Belal Muhammad Set for Crucial Bout Against Ian Machado Garry at UFC Qatar

Sports News

Belal Muhammad is preparing for a significant fight as he looks to rebound from his recent title loss. The former UFC Welterweight Champion had a long and arduous journey to capture the world title, finally earning his shot against then-champ Leon Edwards last year after an impressive 10-fight unbeaten streak.

Muhammad`s reign as champion was short-lived. He was dethroned by Jack Della Maddalena in his first title defense at UFC 315 in May. Though Muhammad, 37, disagreed with the decision, he understands that as the number one contender, he must fight his way back into the 170 lbs title picture.

Belal Muhammad vs. Ian Machado Garry Co-Headlines UFC Qatar

UFC CEO Dana White recently announced an exciting top contender double-header for a UFC Fight Night event in Doha, Qatar. In addition to the lightweight main event featuring #1 contender Arman Tsarukyan battling Dan Hooker, Belal Muhammad will co-headline UFC Qatar against the #7-ranked welterweight contender Ian Machado Garry.

This pivotal welterweight clash is set for November 22nd at the ABHA Arena. Machado Garry (16-1) recently bounced back from the first loss of his career to Shavkat Rakhmonov with a dominant five-round main event victory over Carlos Prates in April. Muhammad holds an impressive record of 12-2 (1 NC) in his last 15 UFC outings.

Sean Brady Expressed Interest in Fighting Both Muhammad and Garry

The announcement of Muhammad vs. Machado Garry surely caught the attention of Sean Brady. Following his submission win over Leon Edwards at UFC London, the #2-ranked welterweight contender had publicly stated on several occasions his willingness to fight both Muhammad and Machado Garry. With this matchup now booked, Brady is left without an immediate opponent.

The American contender had hoped to secure a fight against Muhammad, Machado Garry, or even Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 322 on November 15th, aiming to position himself for a title shot against the winner of the main event between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev. Sean Brady currently boasts an 18-1 professional record, with his sole loss coming at the hands of Belal Muhammad.
