The Chicago Bulls have announced the much-anticipated return of their black pinstripe uniforms for the 2025-26 season. These fan-favorite jerseys will serve as their `statement edition` attire, marking their first appearance on court since the 2012-13 season. However, they are most famously associated with the iconic Michael Jordan era of the 1990s.
These distinctive pinstriped jerseys were a staple during Chicago`s dominant 1990s dynasty. They were introduced as alternative uniforms for the historic 1995-96 season, a year in which the Bulls set a then-record of 72 wins (later surpassed by the Golden State Warriors). The team continued to wear them the following season as they secured their second consecutive championship, solidifying the pinstripes` status as a symbol of Bulls` unparalleled dominance in the latter half of that decade.
While the overall design retains its classic appeal, subtle updates have been incorporated. The stars, mirroring those on the Chicago flag, will now feature prominently on the waistband of the shorts. Furthermore, the red and white piping along the neckline and armholes of the original 90s jersey has been updated to a striking red and black combination.
For this much-anticipated re-release, the Bulls partnered with Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman, who expressed that the pinstripe jersey was his favorite from his time playing in Chicago. Rodman enthusiastically remarked:
“I used to wear the jersey all the time, only the jersey. This is more like Chicago. It’s more original with the same color scheme. … These jerseys right here are legendary.”
Following the legendary Jordan era, the pinstripe uniform made brief returns for single seasons in 2007-08 and 2012-13. Despite the Bulls not reaching the same pinnacle of success as their 90s predecessors, the pinstripe jersey remains immensely popular. It is still one of the most frequently seen Bulls jerseys worn by fans at the United Center on game nights and throughout the city of Chicago.
Fans can look forward to the official release of the new statement edition jersey on October 15th. It will be showcased by the team during select home games throughout the upcoming season.
