Daniel Cormier Doubts Split Decision as Patchy Mix Faces Second UFC Loss at UFC 320

Sports News

Patchy Mix has had a rough start to his UFC career. The former Bellator Bantamweight Champion suffered another loss in his second bout at UFC 320, falling to Jakub Wiklacz, a protégé of the legendary Joanna Jedrzejczyk. This came after his promotional debut loss to top contender Mario Bautista at UFC 316.

The highly anticipated fight between Wiklacz and Mix, featured on the UFC 320 prelims, went the full three rounds. Its outcome sparked significant debate among MMA fans and commentators alike. While Wiklacz appeared to inflict more damage throughout the contest, Mix managed to display notable grappling dominance towards the end of the bout, leading to differing views on who deserved the win.

Daniel Cormier Disputes Jakub Wiklacz’s UFC 320 Victory Over Patchy Mix

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier strongly disagreed with the split decision awarded to Wiklacz. Expressing his conviction, Cormier stated, “Honestly, Patchy Mix won that fight… In the second round, they were trading back-and-forth, he had him down the whole time, landing punches. I don`t know… I really don`t understand how stuff like this happens. It felt like Patchy Mix won the fight.” Fellow commentator Jon Anik, concurring with Cormier, added that he also believed Mix had clearly won rounds two and three.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk`s Prophecy for Jakub Wiklacz`s UFC Future

A legend of the sport, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, was notably present for Wiklacz`s inaugural UFC victory. Following the bout, she embraced her long-time teammate after he exited the Octagon, showing her support and pride.

Back in 2015, after a successful title defense, the former women`s strawweight champion had famously predicted a bright future for Wiklacz. She stated that the then 18-year-old would become a UFC fighter and, “for sure, he gonna be a champion one day,” adding that he was “young, but very talented.” Now 29 years old, Jakub Wiklacz officially holds a 1-0 record in the UFC, taking his first step towards fulfilling Jedrzejczyk`s prophecy.
