Dillon Danis Makes Bold Money Claim in Confrontation with UFC GOAT

Sports News

Dillon Danis, a controversial figure in MMA who transitioned to boxing, confidently asserts that his relatively short combat sports career has generated more income than that of one of the sport`s all-time legends.

Earlier this summer, Danis, a long-time associate of Conor McGregor, secured the MisFits light heavyweight title by submitting Warren Spencer with a quick guillotine choke, adding an MMA championship to his achievements.

With plans for a sustained run in the promotion, Danis was initially linked to the GFL startup, where he was slated for a main event bout against former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.

Despite his significant absence from active competition, Danis contends that his short tenure in combat sports has been more financially rewarding than the career of a flyweight legend.

Dillon Danis Claims Higher Earnings Than Demetrious Johnson

Having competed professionally four times, Danis boasts an impressive 3-0 record specifically in mixed martial arts.

In 2023, the former Bellator MMA prospect also participated in a reportedly lucrative boxing match against the controversial Logan Paul, which ended in a disqualification loss in his professional boxing debut.

Nonetheless, Danis believes his involvement in high-profile fights has secured him greater financial compensation than Demetrious Johnson, even considering Johnson`s extensive reign as UFC flyweight champion.

“Currently, I`m earning more than you (Demetrious Johnson) likely made in all your title fights, no offense,” Danis stated on the Mighty YouTube channel. He added, “When you fight with the kind of name and viewership I attract, DAZN compensates very generously.”

Both fighters, criticizing the UFC, suggested Danis would earn considerably less if he competed in the Octagon, a point reinforced by Johnson, who cited financial reasons for his high-profile exit from the promotion in 2018.

Dillon Danis Proposes Fight Against Islam Makhachev to Settle Old Feud

During one of the most significant rivalries in UFC history, Danis was prominently featured in Conor McGregor’s corner at UFC 229 for his infamous title bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In the chaotic post-fight brawl, Danis alleges he was struck at least seven times by Islam Makhachev, who is set to headline UFC 322.

Consequently, the controversial grappler expresses no hesitation in facing the formidable welterweight in the cage to resolve their past animosity.

“Give me Islam (Makhachev) — he leaped from the cage and punched me in the head seven times,” Danis recounted. “Khabib (Nurmagomedov) also jumped from the cage. I want my revenge. I never sued the UFC for that incident, though I could have for millions.”
