UFC fans are convinced that Conor McGregor will not return to the Octagon after the Irishman accepted a disqualification for violating the UFC`s anti-doping policy.
The former two-division champion received an 18-month retroactive suspension for failing three times to provide his whereabouts for drug testing samples to CSAD.
Although the suspension lasts until March of next year, McGregor could formally compete at the summer UFC event at the White House, an event he has long sought to participate in.
However, numerous fans on social media are confident that this latest blow to the 37-year-old`s career will mark the complete end of his illustrious journey in combat sports.
Fans Believe Conor McGregor Will Never Fight in the UFC Again
McGregor, who had hoped to headline a significant event at the White House in June of next year, was actively linked with a potential rematch against former title challenger Michael Chandler.
But due to this anti-doping policy violation, his future is once again uncertain, and fans believe McGregor will miss out on his long-awaited return to the Octagon.
“Yeah, he`s (Conor McGregor) definitely never fighting again,” one X user posted.
Another user speculated that McGregor`s recent absence from social media was preparation for the release of news regarding his issues with CSAD, writing: “Bro goes off social media just prior to this news breaking.”
A third expressed hope for his return at the Washington event, noting his suspension ends in March: “This would make him eligible just in time for the June White House event.”
Another commentator suggested that the aforementioned Chandler should likely come to terms with the idea of potentially missing another fight with McGregor after their failed pairing at UFC 303 last summer, writing: “Somebody check on Chandler. Dude thought for a second he was actually gonna get his match.”
One user also pointed out that McGregor`s eligibility date for competition comes three months before the flagship White House event, writing: “Very convenient eligibility date. Definitely not performative bullshit.”
UFC Urged to Bypass Conor McGregor Fight at The White House
Despite McGregor`s strong desire to headline a stacked summer event—which UFC President Dana White has promised will be one of the best in promotional history—he is being urged to skip the card.
Expressing skepticism about whether the promotion needs him or former heavyweight champion Jon Jones to feature, one decorated ex-champion suggested the event would run smoothly without either.
