FIVB Boosts Coaching Education with 13 Global Courses in July 2025

In July 2025, the FIVB significantly expanded its coaching development initiatives by organizing 13 different coaching courses in as many locations worldwide. These comprehensive programs, encompassing FIVB Coaches Course Level I, Level II Volleyball, and Beach Volleyball certifications, delivered a blend of practical and theoretical instruction to coaches across Asia, Africa, Europe, and both North and South America.

Cambodia: Phnom Penh

From July 1-5, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, was the site of an Olympic Solidarity-backed FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course at the National Sports Complex. Instructor Dusan Jarotta led 44 participants through English-language sessions, focusing on essential technical instruction and effective practice management. Notably, 13 women attended, indicating a rising female engagement in Cambodian volleyball coaching. Attendees particularly appreciated the balanced approach of classroom theory combined with practical on-court exercises, fostering teamwork and shared learning experiences.

Belize: Belize City

Belize City hosted an FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course from July 2-6 at the Ned Pitts Olympic House. Instructor John Kessel guided 37 participants, including a notable group of 12 women, through English-language modules. The coaches actively engaged in sessions that skillfully blended practical drills with theoretical teaching frameworks, highlighting the increasing diversity in volleyball leadership within the Caribbean nation.

Hong Kong, China

From July 7-11, the Christian Alliance International School in Hong Kong, China, hosted an Olympic Solidarity-sponsored FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course. Christian Kröger instructed 20 participants in English, with the smaller group size facilitating highly interactive discussions. Six women were among the attendees, who used the course to practice detailed planning exercises. The venue’s integrated classroom and training facilities ensured an efficient and engaging schedule.

Chile: Santiago

Concurrently, Santiago de Chile conducted an FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course in Spanish from July 7-11. Instructor Eduardo Bellmann guided 23 participants, comprising coaches from local schools and clubs. The program fostered active reflection and discussion on community-level volleyball, equipping participants with new strategies to bolster grassroots development within the Chilean capital.

Tanzania: Dodoma

In Dodoma, Tanzania, an FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course took place from July 8-12 at Chinangali Park. Constant Tchouassi instructed 38 participants in English, delivering a balanced curriculum of theoretical knowledge and court-based practical work. The group displayed remarkable enthusiasm as coaches experimented with new teaching methodologies, with the course proving invaluable for many transitioning from playing careers to formal coaching roles.

Ecuador: Cuenca

Cuenca, Ecuador, hosted an Olympic Solidarity-sponsored FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course from July 9-13. Argelio Pascual Hernández Rodriguez instructed 34 coaches in Spanish, including seven women. The course emphasized establishing clear foundational coaching principles. Participants valued the focus on skill progression and practical applications specifically tailored for youth training environments.

China: Tianjin

In China, Tianjin University of Sport collaborated with Olympic Solidarity to host an FIVB Level II Volleyball Coaches Course from July 11-15. Instructor Dejan Vulicevic worked with a full contingent of 45 participants, seven of whom were women. This advanced program delved into tactical systems, performance analysis, and effective athlete management. The university`s excellent facilities enabled coaches to directly apply theoretical concepts in high-quality court sessions.

Guatemala: Guatemala City

Guatemala City`s Gimnasio Alfonso Gordillo hosted an Olympic Solidarity-supported FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course from July 14-18. Instructor Ruben Sainz Rodriguez guided 44 coaches, including 14 women, through Spanish-language sessions. The substantial female participation underscored the inclusive growth of coaching in the region. Attendees particularly valued the structured approach to lesson planning and the chance to exchange insights with peers from diverse provinces.

Palestine: Ramallah

Palestine hosted an Olympic Solidarity-sponsored FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course in Ramallah from July 15-19. Instructor Rani Asfour guided 32 coaches in English, covering core methodologies for teaching and managing training sessions. The program attracted nine women, reflecting expanded opportunities for female coaches in the region. Participants responded positively to the balance of group discussions and practical on-court experimentation.

Dublin, Ireland, hosted an FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course at Maynooth University from July 16-20. The academic environment fostered analytical discussion, and coaches collaborated closely on designing drills and refining their approaches to team management.

Dominican Republic: Hato Mayor (Beach Volleyball)

In the Dominican Republic, Hato Mayor hosted an FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course, in partnership with the FIVB Development Center, from July 21-25 at Rancho Doña Callita. Instructor Mauro Hernandez led participants in Spanish-language sessions that combined classroom theory with practical sand-court training. The intimate group size allowed for focused attention on individual coaching styles, helping participants adapt to the unique requirements of beach volleyball preparation.

Maldives: Malé

Maldives concluded July’s activities with an FIVB Level I Volleyball Coaches Course in Malé from July 27-31. Instructor G.E. Sridharan guided a full class of 45 participants, including eight women, in English. The Social Centre venue created a dynamic atmosphere, with coaches engaging in practical exercises that promoted teamwork. Many left with fresh strategies to strengthen grassroots volleyball development across the islands.

Coaches appreciated the structured curriculum that supported their growth as leaders in both training and competitive environments.
