Coronavirus is an infectious disease that has been confirmed in more than two million people across the world. You could protect against the deadly virus by simply washing your hands regularly, and by self-isolating.
Coronavirus cases are continuing to rise in the UK, and the government has urged the public to stay at home, to avoid becoming infected or spreading the virus further.
People have been advised to remain indoors, as almost 100,000 UK individuals have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
You should only be leaving your home for exercise once a day, for essential work, or to go shopping for food or medicine.
Staying at home and self-isolating is the best and easiest way to avoid becoming infected, according to nanotechnologist Dr Michelle Dickinson.
If other people aren’t around you, then there can be no chance of becoming infected, she explained.
If everyone were to remain at home, it could be enough to defeat coronavirus once and for all.
But, you could also protect yourself against COVID-19 by regularly washing your hands, she added.
Soap is the virus’ one main weakness, as it works to destroy the infection from within.

“The easiest way to protect yourself is to isolate from others,” Dr Dickinson told Express Health.
“If people aren’t close to you, then they can’t spread their droplets on you.
“If you aren’t out touching public door handles and handrails then it’s less likely that you will pick up the virus through physical contact.
“While staying at home for a few weeks may sound boring, it really is the best way to stamp COVID-19 out completely by making it unable to jump from person to person.”

Meanwhile, soap is also crucial to protecting yourself against coronavirus, added Dr Dickinson, who is currently releasing a daily children’s science experiment programme online; the Nanogirl STEM Adventure.
She explained that soap works by breaking into the virus’ outer fatty layer.
“This tears open the fat layer, bursting its protective coating and destroying the virus as it washes down the sink,” she said.
“It’s a simple but effective way to stop the spread.

Common coronavirus symptoms include having a high fever, and developing a new, continuous cough.
Anybody that feels hot to the touch on their chest or back could be showing early coronavirus symptoms.
Similarly, anyone that’s been coughing more than usual for longer than a one-hour period, or if they’ve had at least three coughing episodes every 24 hours, should self-isolate.
You should only leave your home to go food or medicine shopping, for medical help, traveling to and from work – where absolutely necessary – and for one form of exercise every day.
