Hangovers caused by Prosecco are officially the worst kind, claims expert

We all know the feeling…

You wake up after a fun night out – or in nowadays – and your head is throbbing, you feel nauseous and you need a takeaway.

Hangovers are the thief of joy and some of them certainly feel worse than others.

And, it’s now official that Prosecco hangovers are the worst!

A wine expert claims that the bubbles in the Italian beverage give you a worse hangover than with any other alcoholic drink.

Club Vino's sommelier and co-founder Marco Castelanelli said that the bubbles change how the alcohol flows through the bloodstream.

What are your top hangover cures? Let us know in the comments…

Marco told Tyla : "If you find that you get the worst headache ever after a glass or two of Prosecco, then quite simply, blame it on the bubbles.

"Prosecco and Champagne both contain little pockets of carbon dioxide which change how the alcohol flows through the bloodstream, helping the body to adsorb the alcohol faster."

And, that's a recipe for danger…

When the booze gets into the blood, the carbon dioxide competes with the oxygen– this can make you feel dizzy and drunk more quickly.

And, in turn gives you an exaggerated hangover with a huge headache.

But, don’t worry, if you’re a big fan of bubbly you don’t have to go cold turkey.

To keep the hangover at bay, Marco suggests a few tricks.

Firstly, never drink Prosecco on an empty stomach and drink it slowly.

Plus, for every glass of bubbles, rehydrate with a glass of water.

Finally, he added: "Drink a large glass of water before bed.”
