More than 1 in 4 adults in the UK have high blood pressure, although symptoms can be unclear at times.
Blood pressure is recorded with two numbers, the systolic pressure (higher number) is the force at which your heart pumps blood.
And the diastolic pressure (lower number) is the resistance to the blood flow in the blood vessels.
There are plenty of ways to avoid hypertension, like looking at what you eat and drink.
According to Blood Pressure UK, adding bananas in your breakfast could lower your chances of developing hypertension.
This is because bananas are rich in potassium, which is a crucial mineral for regulating your blood pressure.
Potassium also helps to balance out the negative effects of sodium on the body.

The charity said: “Potassium is a key mineral that the body relies on heavily to function properly.
“Your kidneys help to control your blood pressure by controlling the amount of fluid stored in your body. The more fluid, the higher your blood pressure.
“Your kidneys do this by filtering your blood and sucking out any extra fluid, which it then stores in your bladder as urine.
“This process uses a delicate balance of sodium and potassium to pull the water across a wall of cells from the bloodstream into a collecting channel that leads to the bladder.
“Eating salt raises the amount of sodium in your bloodstream and wrecks the delicate balance, reducing the ability of your kidneys to remove the water.”
The NHS advises Brits to reduce the amount of salt they are consuming as it raises bp.
As well as this, patients are warned to follow a balanced diet and only drink alcohol in moderation.
