Cricket News

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has revealed his preferred playing eleven for India`s upcoming One-Day International series opener against Australia. With the series set to commence in Perth on Sunday, Pathan’s selection features Shubman Gill as the new captain, opening the innings alongside the seasoned Rohit Sharma.

Pathan`s formidable middle-order includes star batsman Virat Kohli, followed by Shreyas Iyer and wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul. For the all-rounder slots, he has opted for Nitish Kumar Reddy and Axar Patel, bringing balance to the team composition.

In the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav is designated as the primary spinner, complemented by a pace attack spearheaded by Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh. The 40-year-old former all-rounder also strongly advocated for the inclusion of 23-year-old fast bowler Harshit Rana. Pathan highlighted Rana`s valuable ability to contribute with the bat, suggesting he could be promoted to the number eight position as the third fast bowler, presenting a significant opportunity for the youngster to perform.
