Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Post-KO Message to the Pettis Brothers

Following a spectacular knockout in Dubai, Khabib Nurmagomedov, while attending to his fighter with a medical team, found a moment to convey a message to his long-time acquaintance, Anthony Pettis.

In a dramatic turn at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, Sergio Pettis, brother of former UFC featherweight champion Anthony Pettis, delivered a devastating spinning backfist knockout against Magomed Magomedov, a protégé of Nurmagomedov.

As the legendary lightweight departed the octagon to tend to his downed fighter, he briefly interacted with Sergio Pettis and also conversed with coach Duke Roufus, a familiar face from Nurmagomedov`s own fighting career.

Despite two rounds of strong pressure from Magomed Magomedov, who nearly secured several submissions, Sergio Pettis executed a perfectly timed spinning backfist. This strike instantly knocked out the Russian fighter, prompting doctors and coach Khabib Nurmagomedov to rush to his aid.

Magomedov eventually left the cage with assistance. However, before Khabib hurried away, he took a moment to speak with Sergio Pettis and his coach, Duke Roufus, using the opportunity to relay a message to Sergio`s renowned elder brother, Anthony Pettis.

Recounting the interaction with Bloody Elbow post-fight, Sergio Pettis stated:

“He simply said, `Good job, man. Excellent fight, and please tell your brother I said hello.` Khabib is truly a great person and an exceptional athlete; it`s quite unusual to see him outside of a fighter`s corner.”

He added, “I`m a big admirer of his, so I was a bit star-struck. Nevertheless, I had a duty to perform and uphold the Pettis family name.”
