“Like An Elder Brother”: Prithvi Shaw’s Apology to Musheer Khan After On-Field Incident

Cricket News

Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw, despite being out of national contention and often scrutinized for his lifestyle, recently made headlines again. After scoring an impressive 181 runs against his former team, Mumbai, in a Ranji Trophy warm-up match, Shaw became embroiled in a controversy stemming from an on-field altercation. During the heated exchange at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Shaw was seen swinging his bat towards Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Indian international Sarfaraz Khan. The incident appears to be resolved, however, as Shaw has reportedly issued an apology to Musheer.

Reconciliation Efforts

A source close to the situation informed The Times of India that Prithvi acknowledged his error. He approached Musheer, offered an apology, and conveyed, “I am like an elder brother to you.” This interaction seemingly brought an end to the tension between the two players.

The reconciliation process began on the third day of the warm-up fixture, with Prithvi Shaw taking the initiative. After Arshin Kulkarni`s dismissal, Shaw approached Musheer Khan, put an arm around him, and began a cordial discussion. Musheer reciprocated the gesture by placing his hand on Shaw`s waist, and they shared a relaxed moment, signifying that their dispute had been amicably settled.

Shaw`s New Chapter with Maharashtra

In related news, Shaw has been included in Maharashtra`s squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. Maharashtra will compete in Group B alongside formidable teams such as last year`s finalists Kerala, Saurashtra, Chandigarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Goa. Their campaign kicks off with an away match against Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram from October 15-18.

The squad also boasts experienced India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad, a former captain of the state team, and selectors prioritized experience by choosing Pradeep Dadhe over younger talent like Rajvardhan Hangargekar. Shaw`s move to Maharashtra marks a significant career step, having left his long-time domestic team Mumbai after a challenging period where he lost his place in the red-ball squad, seeking a fresh start this season.
