Mohammad Kaif Addresses Jasprit Bumrah Controversy Over Bowling Strategy

Cricket News

Mohammad Kaif has finally addressed the public exchange with Jasprit Bumrah, which stemmed from Kaif`s social media post about the pacer`s bowling strategy. The controversy began when Kaif suggested that Bumrah was primarily bowling at the start of innings in the Asia Cup 2025, seemingly to conserve himself and avoid potential injuries from bowling in the crucial death overs. Bumrah promptly refuted this, labeling Kaif`s observation as “inaccurate.”

Breaking his silence on the matter, the former Indian cricket star reiterated his admiration for Bumrah, calling him “Indian cricket`s biggest match-winner.” Kaif stated:

“Please take this as a cricketing observation from a well-wisher and an admirer. You are Indian cricket`s biggest match-winner, and I know what it takes to give it all when on field wearing India colours.”

Earlier, Kaif had elaborated on his initial analysis, noting a change in Bumrah`s bowling patterns. He observed that under Rohit Sharma`s captaincy, Bumrah typically bowled one over at the beginning and then three towards the end of an innings. However, in the Asia Cup, with Suryakumar Yadav as captain, Bumrah bowled a three-over spell upfront. Kaif opined that Bumrah might be preferring to bowl when his body is warmed up to prevent injury. He warned that having only one over from Bumrah available in the remaining 14 overs could be a significant relief for opposing batters and potentially detrimental for India against stronger teams in the World Cup.

Bumrah had previously dismissed Kaif`s remarks, simply responding to his social media post with:

“Inaccurate before inaccurate again.”
