National Beach Volleyball Championships 2025: A Recap of European Action

Across Europe, national beach volleyball federations have recently crowned their 2025 champions. Here`s a summary of the exciting tournaments and the teams that emerged victorious in Germany, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

Germany

Germany hosted its second German Beach Tour event in Berlin. In a closely contested women`s final, top seeds Lea Kunst and Melanie Paul defeated second seeds Nele Barber and Melanie Gernert 2-1 (19-21, 21-19, 21-19). Lisa-Sophie Kotzan & Tabea Schwarz, along with Anna Behlen & Sarah Schulz, secured joint third place.

The men`s final was equally thrilling, with Maximilian Just and Philipp Huster achieving a 2-1 comeback victory (16-21, 21-15, 15-13) against Robin Sowa and Jonas Reinhardt to claim gold. Benedikt Sagstetter & Jonas Sagstetter, alongside Jannik Kuhlborn & Eric Stadie, shared third place.

Italy

In Italy, the Fonzies Absolute Championship tour made a stop in Vasto. Manuel Alfieri and Alex Ranghieri, seeded third, captured the men`s gold by defeating Matteo Martino and Simone Podesta 2-0 (21-13, 21-18) in the final. Daniele Lupo and Davide Borraccino secured bronze.

For the women, top seeds Chiara They and Sara Breidenbach triumphed over Alice Gradini and Federica Frasca 2-0 (21-18, 21-15). Jessica Bellero Piccinin and Claudia Puccinelli earned the bronze medal.

Latvia

Ventspils, Latvia, hosted the DEPO Open Latvian Championships finals. Anija Ozolina and Marta Ozolina, the top-seeded women`s team, claimed gold with a 2-1 comeback (17-21, 21-7, 15-11) against Varvara Brailko and Vanesa Grosberga. Paula Krieva and Aurelija Kotane won bronze.

In the men`s competition, top seeds Ardis Bedritis and Arturs Rinkevics secured the championship with a dominant 2-0 (21-13, 21-14) victory over Olivers Bulgacs and Markuss Graudins. Karlis Jaundzeikars and Matiss Salkovskis took home the bronze.

Netherlands

The Netherlands crowned its 2025 national beach volleyball champions at the Eredivisie Beach finals in Scheveningen. Men`s top seeds Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot secured the title with a 2-0 (21-12, 21-16) win against Steven van de Velde and Dirk Boehle. Ruben Penninga and Matthew Immers earned bronze.

For the women, Wies Bekhuis and Emi van Driel, the top-ranked team, won the championship by defeating Lisa Luini and Desy Poiesz 2-0 (21-17, 21-14). Noa Sonneville and Esmee Radstake finished third.

Poland

In Poznan, Poland, the Orlen Beach Volley Tour finals determined the 2025 national champions. Agnieszka Adamek and Aleksandra Gromadowska claimed the women`s gold with a thrilling 2-1 comeback (13-21, 22-20, 17-15) against Marta Lodej and Julia Kielak. Malgorzata Ciezkowska and Urszula Lunio took bronze.

The men`s title was won by renowned international players Michal Bryl and Bartosz Losiak, who delivered a 2-0 (21-13, 21-12) victory over Piotr Kantor and Filip Lejawa. Jedrzej Brozyniak and Piotr Janiak secured the bronze medal.

Slovakia

Ruzomberok hosted a stop on Slovakia`s Nike Summer Beach Tour. Igor Horvath and Marek Ludha won the men`s final with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-8) victory over Marian Lukac and Matus Sima. Patrik Pokopec and Dominik Jancok took bronze.

The women`s medal matches were intense three-setters. Marketa Prihodova and Beata Rockova from Czechia defeated Ema Matasova and Ema Palkovicova 2-1 (21-19, 12-21, 16-14) in the final. Silvia Poszmikova and Katarina Kapralova caused an upset, beating top-seeded Eva Nemec Elekova and Andrea Bundzelova 2-1 (14-21, 21-19, 15-13) for bronze.

Ukraine

In Kyiv, Ukraine, the National Championship Tour saw second-seeded Inna Makhno and Iryna Makhno win the women`s gold with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) victory over Raisa Rylova and Yulia Chernenko. Olha Mykhailovska and Olena Kurkina claimed bronze.

In the men`s event, Ivan Datsiuk and Oleksii Bublyk were awarded the title after top seeds Sergiy Popov and Ivan Likhatskyi withdrew due to injury, taking silver. Oleksandr Kalym and Vladyslav Maksymovych secured bronze with a 2-1 upset against Richard Likhatskyi and Illia Tiurin.
