Sage Northcutt Completes Dramatic Career Change After Two Years Away From MMA

Sports News

Sage Northcutt was once considered a rising star in the UFC, with many predicting a bright future for him.

At 29 years old, Northcutt began his mixed martial arts (MMA) journey with an impressive five consecutive victories, which quickly led to a contract with Dana White`s UFC.

Known as `Super`, he rapidly captivated fans with his appealing appearance, charismatic demeanor, and exciting fighting technique.

Despite a solid 6-2 record in the Octagon, Northcutt`s career trajectory began to decline after his departure from the UFC.

Sage Northcutt`s Unexpected Career Transition

Northcutt later signed with ONE Championship, making his promotional debut in May 2019.

This debut proved disastrous, as Cosmo Alexandre delivered a brutal knockout just 30 seconds into their bout at ONE: Enter the Dragon.

This devastating loss resulted in Northcutt taking a four-year hiatus from MMA, eventually returning in May 2023.

His much-anticipated comeback at ONE Fight Night 10 saw him secure a quick submission victory in a mere 39 seconds.

However, over two years have passed since that fight, and Northcutt has not competed, seemingly indicating a lack of interest in pursuing his MMA career further.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Northcutt has embarked on a new path, accepting a position as a real estate agent.

It remains uncertain whether this new venture marks the official end of Northcutt`s MMA career or if he still intends to compete again in 2026.

Al Iaquinta`s Transition from MMA to Real Estate

Sage Northcutt isn`t the first MMA fighter to pivot into the real estate industry.

Al Iaquinta, a well-known figure, famously balanced a career in real estate with his UFC fights, facing prominent opponents such as Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jorge Masvidal, Dan Hooker, and Donald `Cowboy` Cerrone.

`Raging` Iaquinta recently dismissed speculation of an MMA return, having fully dedicated himself to his real estate profession.

“I`m so busy in real estate and doing so well,” Iaquinta stated in an interview with Chris De Santiago.

“I`ve built a fantastic team with the Serra-Longo guys. I still go to the gym, offer some help, train to stay active, and maintain my sanity.”

“But then there`s the other aspect, the business side, which is expanding exponentially every single day.”

“By dedicating myself to real estate with the same intensity I applied to fighting, I genuinely believe no broker or agent on Long Island, or even nationwide, could keep up with me.”
