World Cup Commentator Banned for Controversial Remarks

Jorge Chipi Vera, a commentator for ABC Cardinal and ABC TV, has been disqualified from covering the remainder of the World Cup. This decision came after he made a series of contentious statements during Paraguay’s 1-0 victory against Türkiye on June 19. According to People’s Rachel Raposas, Vera accused a referee and FIFA president Gianni Infantino of being “thieves” and claimed they were “killing football.” He has since apologized for his actions, admitting he “lost control.”
